At the International Executive Board meeting held in Detroit on 12/6-8/2011, UAW Region 3 Director Mo Davison announced his retirement effective 3/01/2012.  Article 10, Section 21 of the UAW Constitution provides that "(w)hen an Executive Board Member vacancy occurs in any Region, for any reason, and the International Executive Board determines that conditions and factors exist comparable to those which necessitated the decisions in 1984 to combine the Regions in the Detroit Area and in 1990 to combine the Regions in the Ohio District (that is, Ohio, West Virginia and those parts of Pennsylvania west of and including the counties of McKean, Cameron, Cambria and Somerset), and further, determines that it is in the overall best interest of the Union, then the Region will be combined with one (1) of the other contiguous regions.  The remaining Executive Board Member will have jurisdiction over the combined regions."

At the just concluded IEB meeting the IEB invoked its authority under Article 10, Section 21 of the Constitution, given the vacancy created by Brother Davison's retirement.  Accordingly, effective 3/01/2012 the state of Indiana will be placed in UAW Region 2B and Kentucky will be placed in UAW Region 8.

UAW Region 2B is led by Regional Director Ken Lortz and will thus include the states of Indiana and Ohio.

UAW Region 8 is led by Regional Director Gary Casteel and will include the states of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia as well as the District of Columbia....
